England found their way back into the fifth and final Ashes Test as the hosts managed to dismiss Australia at 295 in Day 2 at The Oval after being bundled for 283 on Wednesday.
With Chris Woakes nabbing three wickets, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Joe Root managed to pick a brace each. Ben Stokes may not have bowled but the England skipper managed to contribute on field with an astonishing catch at the boundary to remove his Australian counterpart, Pat Cummins.

With just the one wicket left in Australia’s kitty, Cummins decided to break the shackles and go for a boundary over long on off Root. And it looked like he had managed to get enough bat on it as it sailed over the ropes only for Stokes to neatly bring it back in and complete a successful grab. Here’s the video:
Stokes isn’t new to grabbing stunners at The Oval with that one handed catch of JP Duminy in the opening match of the 2019 World Cup very much fresh in the memory.
For Australia, Steve Smith was the chief orchestrator with the bat – scoring 71 off 123 deliveries. Usman Khawaja managed 47 runs while Cummins (36) and Todd Murphy (34) contributed big from the bottom order.
At Stumps on Day 2, the visitors lead by 12 runs with a result very much a possibility. While England are looking to level the series, Australia will be eyeing a first series triumph in England since 2001.
