Candidates Chess 2024: Vidit Gujrathi stunned Hikaru Nakamura once again at the Candidates chess tournament. After his victory over the World No 3 from USA with black pieces in Round 2 of the double round robin tournament, Vidit also shocked Nakamura in Round 9 on Monday.
Nakamura was one of the pre-tournament favourites for the 2024 edition of the Candidates.
Meanwhile, in the clash of the teenage prodigies from Chennai, Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa ended in a draw in Round 9. The draw meant that Gukesh stays in joint lead in the standings while Pragg is just half a point behind.
